The successful management of planned track occupations is essential to the construction of railway infrastructure. V/Line recently engaged Brunton to upgrade seven bridges and culverts on the Echuca Line

Our Solution
The nine-day occupation was a great opportunity to combine Brunton’s experience on bridge works with a broader logistical challenge.
The team fabricated:
750 tonnes of new precast
100 tonnes of steelwork, which comprised of both steel trough deck and steel walkway assemblies.
Brunton conducted a full formation replacement over 300 metres at one Rochester location, including:
proof rolls
new capping
new ballast
The team replaced over 1000 replacement sleepers and a kilometre of new rail over almost 100 semi-trailer deliveries.
Brunton removed 3000 tonne of contaminated spoil. They replaced this with similar volume of sound quarry materials
This project involved over 250 staff from multiple subcontractors. Brunton was the single point of contact to track progress and maintain safety, quality and environmental management.
Our Results
The team carried out the works on the Echuca Line within nine days. This let the client to resume train operations safely and quickly.
