Visy Paper – FennoBond Plant Works

SUMMARY

Visy Build Run Repair is an engineering services business that is part of the Visy family. This subbranch offers a range of services to support the pulp and paper, recycling, packaging and waste to energy industries. As part of Visy Build Run Repair services, they required a sturdy and safe way to store chemicals that are integral to their new FennoBond VP4 plant. As part of Brunton’s civil engineering works, the team provided mechanical works to install the tanks and connect the pipes.

Brunton’s end-to-end solution for this project ensured the client had one point of contact.

Our Solution

  • After Brunton completed the civil engineering project, they supported the client with the installation of the FennoBond tanks. This included stainless steel 316 grade tanks and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) tanks.
  • The team also designed and constructed a 70-metre pipe bridge and a number of miscellaneous pipe structures in-house.
  • Brunton’s dedicated project engineer coordinated the tank installation. This was then followed up by constructing:
    • pipe bridge columns
    • spans that were fixed to an existing building
    • cantilevering an existing pipe bridge as well as the columns.
  • Between the tanks and paper mills, the team also installed a range of:
    • skids
    • pumps
    • instruments
    • valves
    • flow meters

These were in place while the team installed the pipe bridge, so they can continue, then complete, the pipework and electrical supply.

  • Brunton suppled and installed the stainless steel 316-grade Tubepress, UPVC and CPVC Georg Fischer pipework and fittings. The pipes let the client store chemicals and components including FennoBond 150A, FennoBond 250B, sodium hydroxide, sodium hypochlorite, water, compressed air and steam.
  • The team routinely tested all the pipework so the final fittings were compliant with quality assurance (QA) documentation. This included an inspection and test plan (ITP), thermal expansion report, drawings and as-builts.
